q2ip Proxy Manager — proxy extension for Chrome and Firefox
A free extension that connects your browser to the proxies you choose and keeps what websites can read about the browser — time zone, language, WebRTC and DNS — consistent with that proxy.
Chrome
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and other Chromium-based browsers
Chrome does not support SOCKS5 with a username and password: use the HTTP port of the same proxy or authorize your IP with the provider.

Firefox
Firefox for desktop, version 140 or newer
SOCKS5 with a username and password works. To use it in private windows, allow the add-on in about:addons.

What it does
-
Proxy in one click
HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5. Connect, and the popup shows your exit IP and its location. Saved profiles switch with one click or a keyboard shortcut.
-
Any common format
Paste host:port, user:pass@host:port or socks5://host:port: the protocol and the login are recognized automatically. Profiles can be imported and exported.
-
Built-in checker
Test one proxy or a whole list before connecting: whether it works, its response time and its country.
-
Per-site rules
Choose which sites go through the proxy and which skip it, or skip the current site with one click.
-
Time zone follows the IP
Time zone, language and approximate location follow the exit IP automatically, also when a rotating proxy changes it.
-
Kill switch
Optional: if the proxy stops answering, traffic is blocked instead of going out over your own connection.
-
WebRTC and DNS leak protection
WebRTC is limited to proxied connections and DNS requests go through the proxy, so neither gives away your own address.
-
Fingerprint protection
Optional: small, stable per-site changes to canvas, audio and text measurements, plus a device profile you can set or leave unchanged.

What a proxy extension does
A proxy extension sends only the browser’s traffic through the proxy server: other programs keep your normal connection and the system settings stay as they are. q2ip Proxy Manager also keeps what sites read from the browser — time zone, language, approximate location, WebRTC and DNS — in line with the proxy, so a site does not see an address in one country and a browser set up for another.
Chrome or Firefox: what differs
Both versions do the same and come in the same 8 languages. Firefox works with SOCKS5 proxies that need a username and password; Chrome does not support SOCKS5 logins, so use the HTTP port of the same proxy there or authorize your IP address with the provider. In Firefox, private windows need permission: about:addons → q2ip Proxy Manager → Run in Private Windows.
Check the connection with q2ip tools
Once connected, open My IP Address: it shows the exit address in six geolocation databases. The WebRTC and DNS leak tests show whether the browser still reveals your own address, and the Privacy Check whether the time zone and language match the IP.
Frequently asked questions
Is q2ip Proxy Manager free?
Yes. The extension is free, shows no ads and needs no account. It works with proxies from any provider, not only from q2ip.
Which proxies does it support?
HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, entered as host:port, user:pass@host:port or socks5://host:port. Rotating proxies work too: when the exit IP changes, the time zone, language and location follow it.
Why does Chrome not accept a SOCKS5 proxy with a password?
Chrome itself does not support SOCKS5 with a username and password, and no extension can add it. Use the HTTP port of the same proxy, or authorize your IP address with the provider and connect without a login. Firefox supports SOCKS5 logins.
Does the extension collect my data?
No. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no remote code. Profiles and passwords stay in your browser and are sent only to the proxy they belong to; the IP lookup and the checker contact public lookup services only after you allow it.
How do I use it in Firefox private windows?
Firefox runs add-ons in private windows only with your permission: open about:addons, choose q2ip Proxy Manager and turn on Run in Private Windows.
Will the extension make me completely anonymous?
No extension can: network-level fingerprints, such as those of TCP and TLS connections, stay as they are. It makes what the browser reports match the proxy — check the result with our privacy check and leak tests.
Does it work on phones?
It is made for desktop browsers on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Firefox add-on runs only in Firefox for computers.
