IP Address Lookup
Enter any IP address or domain to see its location, network and ownership — and how six geolocation databases place it on a map.
- via Check-Host.net
Complete IP information
For any public IP we show country, region, city and coordinates, the ASN and organization that owns it, the announced network prefix, its likely type (hosting, ISP, mobile…), reverse DNS, and whether it is a known Tor exit.
Six geolocation databases on one map
Databases often disagree, especially about the city. MaxMind, DB-IP, IPLocate, IPinfo, IP2Location and IPGeolocation.io are shown side by side, with a pin for each on the map and the distance between them — so outliers stand out at a glance. The first three are local and answer instantly; the rest come from Check-Host.net.
Domains too
Enter a domain and we resolve it first, then show the information for its address — handy for checking where a site is hosted.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is IP geolocation?
Country-level data is very reliable; city-level data is an estimate and can be off by tens of kilometres, especially for mobile and VPN addresses. Comparing several databases shows how much they agree.
Where do the extra geolocation databases come from?
MaxMind GeoLite2, DB-IP Lite and IPLocate run on our own server and refresh automatically. IPinfo, IP2Location and IPGeolocation.io are fetched through Check-Host.net, which is credited on the page, and cached for a few hours.
Can I look up a domain?
Yes. Enter a domain and we resolve it first, then show the information for the IP address it points to.
What is the difference between ASN and ISP?
An ISP is the company that sells you connectivity; the ASN is the number of the autonomous system that announces the address block on the internet. One provider can run several ASNs, and a hosting company shows up as an ASN without being a consumer ISP.
